In 1851 census, was living with family at 51 Keith Street, Stornoway. By 1861
he was a Joiner, still at no. 51.
Married in 1863, witnesses were John Maciver, Barbara's brother, and Hector
Ross.
In 1871, he was married with 4 children, also employed a domestic servant,
Barbera Maclean,19. Employment now a House Carpenter. Still at No. 51, along
with brothers Archibald and John and families.
In 1881, they had moved to 47 Keith Street, job now a Joiner. About 7 children
now.
In 1891, they had moved again, to 80 Keith Street. now 10 children. A plaque
on the wall of the house (which has since been roughcasted over) showed it was
built, possibly by Roderick, around 1890
