McGEACHIE, Roderick Noel September 27, 1922 - August 25, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Roderick McGeachie announces his passing at Broadmead Lodge, Victoria, BC on August 25, 2018. Rod was predeceased by his loving wife Ivy in 1995. Mourning his passing are their children Lynette (Rick), Shannon (Richard), Gail (Dennis), Colin, Frank (Pam), Matt (Teri) and Michael (Fiona), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rod, the youngest of four, was born and raised in Burnaby, BC. As a young man Rod apprenticed as a jeweler and operated a small jewelry/watch repair shop in Vancouver. Rod enlisted in the army at the start of the war and was a D Day veteran. Returning home Rob worked as an upholstery trimmer before embarking upon a long career with the Boy Scouts of Canada. Rod was instrumental in establishing troops across western Canada and the Yukon in addition to the troops he began in Holland directly after the war. Rod's work with scouting helped him transition into working with paper carriers for both the Calgary Herald and the Victoria Times Colonist. Rod was a selfless man of unending patience who, true to the scouting motto, left the world a better place than he found it.
