Roger Beckwith was knighted and created a Baronet of England by Charles the 2nd in 1681.He married twice and died in 1700.

Sir Roger Beckwith, 1st Bt.d. 6 December 1700 was the son of Arthur Beckwith and Mary Wyvill.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Clapham, daughter of Sir Christopher Clapham and Margaret Oldfield.

He married, secondly, Elizabeth Jenings, daughter of Sir Edmund Jenings, at Ripon, Yorkshire, North Riding, England. He died on 6 December 1700, having shot himself. His will (dated 7 May 1690) was probated on 28 February 1700/1. He was buried at Ripon, Yorkshire, North Riding, England.

Sir Roger Beckwith, 1st Bt. was created 1st Baronet Beckwith, of Aldborough, co. York [ENGLAND] on 15 April 1681.
