About Rosalie Rice
Rosalie Rice was a member of Cumann na mBan during the 1916 Easter Rising. She sent a telegram that was originally believed to have said "Mother operated on successfully today-Kathleen" which meant that the rising had begun to her cousins. The message most likely actually said "Tom operated on successfully today-Margaret O'Sullivan" After the rising she was imprisoned at Ballymullen Jail in Tralee, and she was later imprisoned at the start of the civil war to prevent her from notifying IRB or IRA forces.
