It is not improbable that Barbe's father is Nicolas BAYOLLE of Dijon, who sailed beside Isaac PESSELIN on the ship "Saint-Jehan" as immigrants to Acadia, leaving La Rochelle, France on 1 Apr 1636.

Her father had come to Acadie first in 1636 aboard the "Saint-Jehan," under the command of Nicolas LeCREUX, Lord of Breuil. He returned to France to retrieve his family and returned in 1738 with Rose. Around 1649, when she was around 18, she married at Port Royal to Pierre COMMEAU, then around 50 years of age. They settled near Port-Royal on the Riviere des Dauphins and had nine children, the oldest Etienne born in 1650.

CENSUS: 1671, Port Royal, Acadia [p. 10], age 40, name spelled Rose BAYOU/BAYON, living with husband, age 75. Of their 9 children, one is married and living nearby. [But this Estienne, the oldest, could not be her son. His wife is her daughter by her first marriage. Must be child of first marriage of Pierre COMMEAUX [COMEAU]?]

DEATH: Before the 1686 census? Her 3 sons are living alone with Pierre, age 88.

Rose Bayol (Bayon) came to Acadia at the age of 5 aboard the St.-Jehan with her father in 1636. In 1649 at the age of 18, she married 51-yr-old cooper Pierre Comeau in Port-Royal. She and Pierre had nine children. Their three daughters married into the Gaudet, Hébert, and Rivet families. Five of their six sons, all born at Port-Royal, created families of their own.

In 1671 they are living in Port Royal, Acadia (Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada).

Rose died before the 1678 census.[1]
