About Rose L Rhodes
From Riverside New Jersey Historical Society:
"Rose Rower Rhodes (1846-1934) the daughter of early settlers Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rower married Alexander Rhodes one of the town’s first leaders.
The couple is often referred to as the first bride and groom married in Riverside. When Rose and family moved into the community, then called Progress, “there was only a scattered settlement of houses surrounded by woodland.”
During the Civil War she served as a volunteer nurse attending to the wounded who passed through Philadelphia. She lived her later years at 148 Webster Street at the home of her daughter Mrs. Emma Dietrich."
