About Ross Terry Andrus

Ross Terry Andrus 1926 ~ 2007 Ross Terry Andrus passed away peacefully July 13, 2007 at his home in Bountiful, Utah. Born November 17, 1926 in Magna, Utah, one of five sons of George Everett and LaVerna Terry Andrus. He married Helen Mellor March 27, 1954; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised their nine children in Bountiful Utah. Terry attended Cyprus High School where he played football for three years and graduated in June, 1944. Later he attended the Radio Officers School on Gallup Island, Boston, Massachusetts and graduated with a second class Radio Telegraphers license and the rank of Warrant Officer in the US Maritime service.

From 1945-47 he sailed on four ships including the SS Lane Victory Ship which he had fond memories of. He was soon drafted into the Army and spent 15 months with the 4th Infantry Division as an Army radio operator. Following discharge he worked with KUTV and KLUB for many years before he went to work at Hill Field AFB in 1971. He received several sustained superior performance awards and a certificate of commendation signed personally by President Gerald Ford for his work as an electronic mechanic. After retiring in 1990, Terry started A & A Video Repair Company which he worked at for seven more years. He loved to sing and shared his joy of singing by having a CD made that he gave to family and friends.

Terry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked various church jobs over the years. He was a High Priest with the Bountiful 17th Ward. Terry is survived by children, Shauna (Mike) Fowler, Colleen (John) Griffiths, Barbara (John) Barton, Blair (Teresa) Andrus, Glenn (Kim) Andrus, LeiLani Andrus, Dale (Ramona) Andrus; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Frances) and Calvin (Sharon). Preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Allen George Andrus; daughter, Dawn; great-grandson, Michael Johnson; parents; brothers, Demoyne, Milton Jay and Keith Andrus. Thanks to Applegate Hospice, especially Meredith, for her genuine and loving kindness in helping with the care of dad. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 17th Ward, 2200 South 600 East, where a viewing will be held Wednesday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Draper City Cemetery.
