Roy E. Boone, 78, Elm Grove, near Wheeling, died Thursday in a nursing home. He was formerly of Greenbrier County, a son of the late Wesley R. and Kathryn E. Boone

Roy was a retired educator having taught at Elkins and Martinsburg High Schools, and West Virginia University, Morgantown.

He served as principal at Martinsburg, Ronceverte and Renick schools. Prior to his retirement he was head counselor of the rehabilitation program at Wheeling.

He was a member of the Elm Grove Methodist Church, Wheeling.

Survivors include his wife, Willard Boone; two sons; Dr. Ralph Harold Boone, Sistersville, and Robert E. Boone, Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Colonel Rankin Boone, Arlington, VA., and Weldon W. Boone, Hinton; a sister Edith McMillion, North Bridge, Calif.; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be at the Elm Grove Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. with burial in a local cemetery. The body is at Kepner Funeral Home, Elm Grove (RNS)
