He enjoyed snowmobiling

McHENRY - Roy Calvin Roadman, 80, of McHenry, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.

He was born July 6, 1925, in Jones Mill, Pa., to Frank and Reba (King) Roadman. In March 1952, he married Rosalie (Roye) Wiedbusch in Chicago.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.

He was superintendent of Larson Equipment Co. in Chicago and a member of Carpenters Union Local 80.

He was a 40-year member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry.

He was a member of the Harmony Snowmobile Club and was a past president of the Illinois Snowmobile Association. He also was a member of McHenry Moose Lodge 691 and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600.

In addition to snowmobiling, he enjoyed traveling and boating.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Ronald (Harriette) Roadman of Murrysville, Pa., Jeffrey (Jill) Roadman of Johnsburg and Carol (Chris) Murphy of Ringwood; five grandchildren, Amy and Steven Murphy, and Jason, Adrian and Joshua Roadman; and three sisters, Mary Lohr, Jane Pravlik and Norma Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruthela Hetrick; and a niece, Mary Jane Lohr.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. It will continue from 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, until the 11 a.m. service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry. The Rev. Roger Schneider will officiate.

Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.

Memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Association.
