About Ruben Ecleo Jr.
Ruben Ecleo Jr. was a Filipino politician. He represented the lone district of Dinagat Islands at the House of Representatives of the Philippines from June 30, 2010 to May 22, 2012, when he was convicted of parricide for the murder of his wife, Alona Bacolod-Ecleo, that occurred in 2002, aside from three counts of graft in 2006 for the anomalous construction of a public market and town hall, and repairs of his cult's building in San Jose, Dinagat Islands when he was then mayor in the early 1990's. He was sentenced to 31 years imprisonment for three counts of graft, and reclusión perpetua or at least 30 years imprisonment for parricide. He went into hiding, and then he was arrested on July 30, 2020 in San Fernando, Pampanga. He was then transferred to New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, where he died.
