Ruby Roxana Harlow

Ruby Roxana Lawrence Harlow as born December 21, 1887 and passed away September 8, 1978, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Corning at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 8 days. She was born on a farm near Brooks, Iowa and lived her entire life in Adams County, most of this being in Brooks and the Brooks vicinity. She became a member of the Brooks Methodist Church at an early age and was faithful member and worker in all church activities as long as her health permitted. She was united in marriage to Thel Harlow, February 13, 1910. To this union two daughters were born, Doris of Corning and Darlene of Bloomington, Illinois. Mrs. Harlow was a devoted wife and her children and grandchildren were uppermost in her mind. She was always busy with many hobbies and enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was always there with a helping hand to anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her ever faithful husband, Thel; her parents; and her nine brothers and sisters, Jake Lawrence, Rolly Lawrence, Emma Wilcox, Phoebe Wilmarth, Dolly Spring, Jessie Schafroth, Floyd Lawrence, Bessie Pell, and Nellie Bunting. Survivors include her daughters, Doris and her husband Frank Davis of Corning, and Darlene and her husband J. H. McGrath of Bloomington, Illinois; four grandchildren, Dean Davis and wife Dianne of corning, Robert Davis and wife Becky of Cozad, Nebraska, Michael McGrath of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Stephanie McGrath of Tempe, Arizona; and four great-grandchildren, Douglas and Dan Davis of Corning, and Janis and Jason Davis of Cozad, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning, September 10, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. James W. King officiating. Interment was in the Brooks Cemetery. Organ music was provided by Dorothy Cook. Casketbearers were Clifford Odell, Henry Heaton, Allen Heaton, Rolly Spring, Morris McPherren, and Kenneth Bunting.
