Ruby Mildred Thompson

Ruby Thompson, age 96 of Bottineau formerly of Midvale, Utah, died Friday in St Andrews Hospital, Bottineau, North Dakota.

Ruby Thompson, a daughter of Richard and Mary (Larson) Dahl, was born on September 17, 1914 at Bottineau.

She was reared and educated in the area. On January 25, 1938 she was married to Arthur Thompson at Bottineau. In 1939 they moved to Montana for a time, then to Colorado. They returned to Bottineau in 1949 to help on the family farm. They lived in the area until the mid 1950’s when they moved to Beulah. Later they moved to Mandan. When Arthur retired they moved to Dodge, ND where she owned and operated Ruby’s Bar. Arthur died in July of 1984. After Arthur’s death Ruby and her sister began traveling to California during the winter months and returning to Dodge during the summer. In 2000 she moved to Midvale, UT to be near her son’s. In 2010 she moved to Bottineau where she has resided since.

She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and playing bingo.

She is survived by 3 sons, Ronald Thompson and his wife DeNae of Lake Metigoshe; Robert Thompson and his wife Linda and Curtis Thompson both of Salt Lake City, UT; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur; step-daughter, Marilyn Tonnesson; a daughter-in-law, Erika Thompson and a grandson, Trevor Thompson.
