In Sep 1918, Rudolf Basch was a chef living at the Clayton Hotel in Detroit, Michigan. He m. in New York, 14 May 1911, Mrs. Rosa (Frohlich) Grulmert, a widow, b. Saxony, 1882, dau of Eduard and Minna (Miller) Frohlich. They had lived together for several years prior to that, and a son, Frederick Rudolf Basch, had been born to them in Jun 1905. A second child, Alice, was born to them in 1913.

Rosa Basch was living separately from her husband at 328 E. 78th St., New York City in Sep 1918. On 5 Jul 1923, Rudolf Basch was living in Bridgestreet, Massachusetts when he renewed his passport. In 1930, Rose Basch, age 48, “widow”, and her daughter, Alice, age 17, are seen living in Manhattan, New York.
