About Rudolph Elector de Saxony, III

Nobility. Born the eldest son of Elector Wenzel and Cecilia di Carrara. He succeeded his father in 1388 and secured his territories by fighting with the archbishops of Magdeburg. He supported Sigismund of Bohemia during his election as emperor. He was married twice; first to Anna of Thuringia and second to Barbara of Liegnitz. Of his five children only his two daughters survived to adulthood. He was succeeded by his younger brother Albrecht.
