About Rufus Ward

Rufus Ward (1759-1834) enlisted in Capt. Bartholomew Woodbury's company,

Col. John Cushing's regiment, serving in the Burgoyne campaign. He served

as corporal under Capt. Reuben Sibley, 1780, in Rhode Island. He was born

in Worcester, Mass., and was a pensioner from Mt. Vernon, Ohio, where he



Mr. Ward enlisted in the Revolutionary War in 1776 at the age of 17. By trade, he was a farmer and cooper.
