RUTH C CHRISTEL

Ruth C. Christel, 85, of Kiel, died Wednesday morning, June 2, 2004 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, new Holstein. She is the former Ruth C. Kazmeier, born July 1, 1918 in Kiel, daughter of the late Oscar and Mathilde Roeck Kazmeier. Ruth was a 1935 graduate of Kiel High School. On Feb. 12, 1945, she married Eugene F. "Schipe" Christel at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. He preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 2001. In her earlier years, Ruth was a secretary at Stoelting Bros., Kiel, and for many years the couple owned and operated Christel's Department Store in Kiel. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. She was a Den Mother for the Kiel Cub Scouts for many years. Ruth's main focus in her life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the sounds, laughter and activity of children and surrounded herself with many in her home. She also enjoyed gardening, baking and her flowers. Survivors include her children, Dennis (Janet) Christel of Plymouth, Judy Schultz of New Holstein, Jennifer (John ) Hildebrandt of Kiel, Thomas (Diana) Christel of Texas, Sue (Randy) Eisenhardt of Kiel, Dan Christel and Mary Tauscheck of Kiel, Mark Christel of Baileys Harbor, and Christine (Todd) Vaaler of Arizona. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Kinkel of Brookfield. She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Steven; son-in-law, Dr. William Schultz; and one sister, Maria Kazmeier. Sheboygan Press – June 3, 2004
