Ruth Griffith*

Ruth was born July 15, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan. She and her parents moved to Denver, Colorado in 1928 when she was 7 years old. She graduated from East High School, Denver, Colorado in 1939. She entered the University of Colorado in Boulder where she pledged the Alpha Phi Sorority. She served as chapter president her senior year. It was on the Boulder campus where she met her future husband John E. Griffith. Ruth earned a Bachelors degree in the spring of 1943 and began teaching Home Economics at Erie High School, Erie Colorado. She and John (Jack) were married in Denver, Colorado June 8, 1946. They became the proud parents of four children.

After the children were mostly grown, Ruth returned to teaching in Douglas County Middle School, Castle Rock, Colorado where she taught English. In 1975 she and Jack moved to a cattle ranch in Kremmling, Colorado. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, writing poetry, gardening, and dancing,
