Ruth Cecelia Johnson

Ruth C. Johnson, 90, a resident of Middleton for the past 18 years, died Saturday, November 2, 1996 in Middleton Village Nursing Home.

She was born March 3, 1906 in Lanesboro, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Clara (Hanson) Stonedahl. She graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, La Crosse, in 1928. She married Lloyd Johnson on November 15, 1934 in West Salem, Wisconsin. She worked in a private medical practice as a Registered Nurse, and later as a public school nurse in the West Salem Schools. She also helped her husband, Lloyd, in his hardware buisiness.

Ruth was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Middleton, and a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Salem, and was very active in both churches. She was a Red Cross Bloodmobile volunteer. Survivors include: her daughter, Marjorie, and her husband, Gene Gray, Middleton; a granddaughter, Karen Gray-Keller, and her hsuband Mark, Lynnwood, Washington; a grandson, John Gray, and his wife, Meredith, Kenosha, Wisconsin; two great-grandchildren, Allyson and Nicholas Keller; a sister, Eileen Wolenski, La Crosse; a cousin, Charlotte Cassidy, Las Vegas, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lloyd, in 1969; and by four brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 7319 Hubbard Avenue, Middleton, with the Reverend Cynthia Ganzkow-Wold officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the church.

Further services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, West Salem, with the Reverend David Bersagel officiating, and with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services in the church.

Burial will be in Neshonoc Cemetery, West Salem.
