Ruth Close was born at Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut on 2 Aug 1735, the daughter of Thomas Close and Hannah Lyon.

Ruth married Timothy Knapp on Sept 14, 1751. They had at least eight children:

Mariah Knapp christened 12 Apr 1751.
Mary Knapp born 6 Jan 1752/53.
Thomas Knapp born 7 Jan 1754.
Matthew Knapp born 8 Feb 1756.
