Daniel Smith (1731-1802) m 22 May 1760 Ruth Fitch (1 Apr 1739-????) d/o Theophilus Fitch (New Canaan, Conn.) & Lydia Kellogg (from Essex Co. England, founders of Conn) had 1/3 acre during American Revolution. All fled to New York 1777 after land convescated by Americans then given land St John NB Sunbury Co. 1783 w 2 negro slaves (Maugerville, Majorfield/Burton). Died and buried with slaves on original deeded farm (old Murphy Place) but body later moved with son Clapman to Blissville Baptist Cemetery.
