About Ruth Wilson
Ruth was a Cherokee woman
Biography
Ruth Drumgoole was born about 1790 in the Cherokee Nation (East), the daughter of Nancy, a Cherokee woman, and Alexander Drumgoole. [1]
Ruth and her sister Nannie both had children with John Foreman. Ruth and John were the parents of Johnson Foreman. [2] She married George Wilson, also Cherokee, about 1810. They were the parents of William, Mary, Elizabeth, Archibald, Rebecca, Alexander, George, Ruth, Anderson, John and Malinda. George Wilson signed his family up to emigrate in 1833. At that time there were eight in the family. They arrived in Indian Territory on May 8, 1834. Sons Alex, William, and Archibald were also with them. [3] Ruth does not appear with George on the 1851 Old Settler Roll. [4]
Ruth died in 1850 and George died in 1851. They are buried at the Wilson Cemetery, Muskogee County, Oklahoma. [5] [6] https://play.google.com/books/reader?id=cRM1AQAAMAAJ&pg=GBS.PA952&h...
Research Notes
The subject of this profile is a matrilineal ancestor of one mtDNA tester at FTDNA reporting Hg=C1c.
Emmet Starr also listed Ruth as the daughter of William Springston, but that appears to be incorrect. Ruth named a son "Alexander Drumgoole Wilson"; other sources including Eastern Cherokee applications and statements by grandchildren [7] list her name as Drumgoole.
