Ryan Holmes (1985 - 2008)

Brief overview:

Ryan (22), a students at Tuks, from Midrand who was shot in the head in a hijacking ln 2007, died after a courageous battle, while his parents stood by his hospital bed.

Holmes's organs "just gave in" in the Muelmed hospital in Pretoria on Friday morning, Mrs. Dale Holmes, his sad mother, told Beeld. Holmes had been in a coma since the hijacking in Vorna Valley in September and miraculously woke up mid-October

Holmes recovered better than expected after the incident in which the bullet was fired from a hijacker's pistol
pierced the frontal lobe and lodged behind his eye. He and his girlfriend, Tanja Lendowsky (19) were in his car in the driveway of Lendowsky's on Sunday evening home when three assailants hijacked them and shot Holmes.

Doctors did not expect him to survive. Still, Holmes fought for his life for about five months. But to the shock of his parents, Mrs. Dale and Mr. Clyde Holmes, to have their darling son slowly deteriorate from the previous Wednesday and finally die on Friday morning.
