[Angela] Davis acknowledged she walked down a path focused on activism and education that was carved out by her mother, even though she actively resisted this path as a child (CSPAN, 2009). Davis stated, “My own political activism is in many ways a legacy of my mother’s” (CSPAN, 2004, 3:52).
