Salvatore "Sam" Rizzo was born in Altavilla Milicia on March 13, 1882. At the time of his birth he had one older brother, Vito Rizzo who was named after the paternal grandfather, therefore Salvatore "Sam" Rizzo, being the second son was named for the maternal grandfather, Salvatore Moreci.
