I originally thought that this Samuel Bird, b. 1744, was married to a Vardeman. But, the time frame doesn't fit. The Vardeman family had left Goochland Co., VA by 1746 and was living in Lunenburg Co., VA before 1766. Samuel Bird's approximate marriage date of 1766, makes his marriage to a Vardeman daughter, impossible, as he hadn't moved to Henry County until after 1772. James Meredith's location in Albemarle near Rocky Creek in 1766, makes a Samuel Bird/Mary Meredith marriage much more likely.
