Samuel was a Friend (Quaker)
Samuel Bowne, son of John Bowne and Hannah Feake, was born 21 Sep 1667 at Flushing, Long Island.[1] He died at Flushing 30 May 1745 (aged 77).[2][3][4] Samuel was buried at Old Bowne Family Burial Ground, Flushing.[4] Samuel Bowne was a Quaker minister. His father had been granted 1000 acres of land in Bucks County, Pennsylvania by William Penn, and Samuel Bowne met Mary Becket there before returning to marry and live in his father’s home at Flushing, Long Island.

Samuel, born in 1667, son of John Bowne, married Grace Cowperthwait in 1735. He died in 1745.[5][9]
The following entry for Samuel Bowne was recorded in the death register of the Flushing Meeting of the Society of Friends:[4]

"Samuell Bowne of fflushing Deceased at his hous in ye 3 mo: ye 30 dy: 1745 in ye 78 year of his age a man Serviseable in his Day bore a publick testemony in meetings & his hous always open for ye Entertaining of ffriends”

Samuel, sixth child and second son of John and Hannah (Feake) Bowne, was

born in Ekishing. Long Island, September 21,

1667, (Hed May 30, 1745. He was a minister

among Friends. October 4. 1691, he married

(first) at Philadelphia Meeting, Mary, daugh-

ter of Captain Becket, who died August 21,

1707. She bore him ten children:

i. Samuel, referred to below.

2. Thomas, born April 7, 1694, married, March 7. 1715, Hannah, daughter of John Underhill.

3. Eleanor, April 20, 1695. married, October 9, 1718, Isaac Homer, of Mansfield, Burlington county, New Jersey.

4. Hannah. March 31, 1697, married, April 6, 1717, Richard Lawrence.

5. John, September II. 1698, died 1757; married, 1738,

Dinah Underhill.

6. Mary, October 21, 1699, married, January 14, 1720. John Keese.
