The Byrne Men in the Civil War -- Zachary being the youngest of the Byrne men, did not serve during the Civil War. Father Samuel along with sons Harrison, John, Joseph and Lucian served for the Union. Son Charles served for the Confederacy.

Note:

   I Samuel Byrne do hereby make this my last will and testament revoking all others. First I do hereby appoint my two sons John P. Byrne and my son Joseph S. Byrne my executors and I do hereby will and bequeath that they my executors do sell the farm that we now live on and after paying off a debt of some ten or twelve hundred dollars that I owe the heirs of my brother John P. Byrne, deceased. I will and bequeath that they my executors pay to my three daughter Nancy Kerns, Harriet Farnsworth, and Mariah Miller each $200 (two hundred dollars) and pay to my son Harrison H. Byrne twevle hundred dollars. I give and bequeath all the balance of my estate real and personally to be equally divided between my four sons John P. Byrne, Joseph S. Byrne, Lucian Byrne, and Taylor Byrne. By they my said four sons maintaining their mother comfortable and decent during her life. As witness my hand and seal this 7the of July 1866.
