Samuel Davis, Jr. was born on January 8 1669/1670 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts and died 1738 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts. His parents were Samuel Davis, Sr. and Mary Waters.

He married Anna or Hannah about 1693 in Chelmsford, MA. She was born 1674 in Groton, MA and died 1711 in Middlesex County, MA.

Samuel (2), second son of Samuel (1) and Mary (Waters) Davis, was born January 10, 1669, in Groton, and was one of the soldiers of Queen Anne's war, serving in Captain Tyng's company of snowshoe men in 1703. For this service he was one of the grantees of Tyngstown. now Manchester, New Hampshire. He bought land in Groton of William and Patience (Davis) Ridland, in 1694, and continued to live there until 1706, when he removed to Chelmsford.

Samuel served in Captain William Tyng's company of snowshoe men in 1703. The Indians were becoming more active in winter and marching companies were fitted out with snowshoes in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for service during the winter. In the winter of 1703 Captain William Tyng, commanded a company of men on snowshoes who went to the headquarters of "Old Harry," near Lake Winnipiseogee. Old Harry had led assaults on Dunstable. The Tyng expedition killed six enemy Indians including Harry.

He bought land in Groton from his uncle and aunt, William and Patience (Davis) Ridland.

On November 16, 1731, Samuel and Anna conveyed their land in Littleton and all real and personal property, except Samuel’s tools for husbandry to Mary’s husband, Moses Foster. Moses was to care for Samuel and Anna from that time on. There was no fixed understanding of the details which caused some problems later. In 1734 Samuel and Moses sued each other. The Court's decision was against Foster.

Inscription on headstone read: Here Lies Buried the body of Mr. Samuel Davis who died January ye 14th AD 1739 Age 67 years 11 m & 29 Ds

He was the husband of Hannah Davis. They wed in 169_ in Chelmsford, MA. She was born 1674 in Groton, MA and died 1711 in Middlesex County, MA.
