In 1927 with Edward M Pennel built "the first modern motor hotel" on the east coast Penn Daw on Route 1 south of Alexandria. Served on the board of directors of the Mt Vernon Bank & Trust Co and member and vestryman of Immanuel Church on the Hill Seminary.
