He had a large property for the times, was always engaged in public affairs, and a liberal supporter of education and religion. A deacon; Representative, 19 years, and had charge of the militia of Eastham; selectman, six years. His will, dated Dec. 13, 1742, proved Feb. 10, 1743, mentions wife Bathsheba, four sons, Samuel, Barnabas, Enoch and John, and sons of wife by her first husband, Samuel and Joseph Smith. He died, Jan. 30, 1743, ae. 82. Jonathan2 Sparrow, in his will of Mar. 10, 1707, bequeathed to "the children of Capt Samuel Freeman by my daughter, Elizabeth."
