Samuel Frye, Sr. was the owner of the land where the Samuel Frye Cemetery in Charleroi, PA is located, and one of four brothers that came to the Monongahela Valley about 1762. Samuel was an Ensign in the Virginia Militia and served in the French and Indian War. He also patrolled the frontier with a group of men protecting the settlers from Indians. He served in the Revolutionary War as a Corporal in the Virginia Infantry.

He married Christina Speers in 1767, daughter of Henry Speers, Sr. and Regena Speers.
