Samuel, son of William and Sarah Elizabeth (Crockroft) Hancock. Soon after the death of his father in 1687 when he became an orphan, to live with his uncle Robert Hancock in Henrico Co. although according to the will of his grandmother he was to be placed in the charge of Edward Moseley, his cousin.
After his marriage to Johanna Hancock (daughter of Robert Hancock) he is shown in the Quit Rent Rolls of Henrico Co. owning 100 acres of land along with Arthur Moseley, possessor of 450 acres and Edward Moseley of 150 acres.
