n some sense Sam Hazelton is the patriarch of Hebron as many of the old and present Hebron families, such as the Brooks, Pike, Smith, Crosby, Merrill, Wise, George, McClure, Whitmore, Walker, Hobart and others, are descendants of Sam Hazelton.

He resided in Cockermouth at the time of his Revolutionary War service."Sept 25 - Oct 28, 1777. Sergeant in Capt. John Willoughby's company, Colonel John Chase's regiment, which was raised in Plymouth and towns adjacent and went "to the assistance of our Northern Army under the command of Maj. John Gates.""
