About Samuel Hiscock

From family records of Harold Hescock

Not sure if Thomas is really Samuel's father. Haven't found a connection from a reliable source. Also need source to prove Nathan Hiscock is Samuel's son. Some sources say Samuel "landed" in Ipswich in 1711. I don't know whether that means "arrived" by some means, or he came by ship. It is also possible that he and/or his parents came down from Maine.
With the beginning of the Indian troubles in 1688 the town was practically abandoned, and for nearly thirty years no records of meetings for the transaction of town affairs are found. Then the records of the General Court show that on 14 Nov. 1718 the inhabitants there were "invested with the powers of a town according to the ancient bounds thereof," and it was provided "that the name thereof be Biddeford." We don't know whether Thomas left Maine when the town was abandoned, so it is unknown where his children were born. Some say Samuel was born in Ipswich, MA. If that is true, his brothers may have been born there, also.
Ipswich VR - HISSCOCK James, s. Samuel and Mary, bp. June 28, 1730.
If this is the same couple, they had a son James in Ipswich. (and probably a couple others before that - see the profile for Nathan Hiscock )
