About Samuel Howe
On 11 Dec 1690 when Samuel was 22, he first married Abigail Mixer, daughter of Isaac Mixer (ca 1630-27 Nov 1716) & Rebecca Garfield (10 Mar 1640/1-16 Mar 1682/3), in Sudbury, MA. Born in Nov 1672 in Watertown, MA.29 Abigail died on 26 Nov 1703 in Sudbury, MA.
Children of Samuel and Abigail (Mixer) Howe, born at Framingham:
- Abigail Howe, b. ca 1691, d. 17 Sep 1722, m. Jonathan Stanhope;
- Samuel Howe, b. ca. 1693; died ca 1747
- Peter Howe, b. ca. 1698, d. 21 Nov 1756 at Hopkinton, MA, m. at Sudbury 9 Apr 1723 Thankful Howe (b. 15 Dec 1703 at Sudbury, d. 25 Jan 1766 at Hopkinton, dau. of David & Hepzibah (Death) Howe);
On 11 Sep 1704 when Samuel was 36, he second married Martha Goodale (33655) , daughter of Nehemiah Goodale (30 May 1636-bef 1701) & Hannah Haven (16478) (22 Feb 1645-31 Dec 1726), in Framingham, MA.342 Born on 4 May 1674 in Lynn, MA. Martha died in Framingham, MA, on 8 Apr 1754; she was 79.
Their children include:
- Joseph Howe, b. 10 AUG 1706 Sudbury d 13 OCT 1723 Sudbury
- Martha Howe b. ca 1708 Framingham d 13 Mar 1788 married 1st 30 May 1730 Framingham Joseph Nichols; and married 2nd 2 Dec 1753 • Framingham David Goddard and married 3rd 27 Nov 1761 Framingham Daniel Stone
- Important note: Howe genealogies 1:16 says both Joseph and Martha were children of Abigail Mixer his first wife. But they completely ignore Samuel Howe's second marriage to Martha Goodale in 1704. Clearly Joseph born 1706 was the son of Martha Goodale and it is far more likely that daughter Martha was named after her mother Martha Goodale (her date of birth is not recorded). That would make her birth c 1708-1710 which make much more sense in terms of her age during the birth of her youngest children than if she was born prior to 1704. Stone genealogy called Martha Howe and Joseph children of Martha Goodale which is almost certainly the case. DNA may be able to solve this definitively but we'd need more descendants on GEDMATCH.
