He m1) 08 Mar 1849 Blackstone, MA [38:311] Catherine Frances Bates; m2) 30 Oct 1897 Cottage City, MA Mary Elizabeth (Mason) Spencer.

Ref. Old Home Week Souvenir of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, September 1908 Samuel Hudson, said to be the second oldest man in Uxbridge, was born Dec. 18, 1822. Received his early education in the schools of England. Came to Uxbridge at the age of twenty and has always lived in the town since that time. Started in the business of manufacturing shoes in the old Union Building and later conducted a store in the building now owned by him on Main Street, Uxbridge Center. He sold boots and shoes and continued to manufacture footwear, and finally purchased the dry goods store in the same building which had been conducted by William W. Thayer. After a time he disposed of his entire business to Eben B. Hayward, only to resume business at the old stand some years later, which he conducted for some ten years. Was Lock-up Keeper for the town during this time and the lock-up was in the basement of the building. Served as a member of the Uxbridge School Board. Is now engaged in caring for his property in Uxbridge Center, which he attends to personally, and although he will be 86 years of age this year, attends to his duties with the vigor of a man of fifty.
