About Samuel Humphreville

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Humphreville-14

Samuel Humphreville was the son of John Umfreville and an unknown wife. He was baptised at Ewell, Surrey, England on October 3, 1669.[1] His father John, his mother and their two children, arrived at the New Haven Colony in 1674.[2]

Samuel first married a daughter of Jacob Gray of Fairfield. His second marriage was to Experience Pinion. He was the father of nine known children. Jacobus attributes all of the children to the first wife _____ Gray, but notes "The maternity of younger children is doubtful." :[3]

Samuel was the son of John and Mary Humphreville. He married (1) Sarah Gray and they had 4 children. He married (2) Experience Pinion and they had 3 children. There is a conflict as to who were the wives of Samuel. Three names appear in other family trees, Sarah Gray, Rebecca Gray and Experience Pinion. The consensus points to Sarah Gray as the 1st wife, having at least 6 children with Samuel - Elizabeth, Anne, Sarah, Esther, John and Thomas. Sarah probably married Samuel abt 1694. The 2nd wife was probably Experience Pionion who probably had at least three children of her own with Samuel. The date of their marriage is unclear. It is unlikely that Rebecca Gray was even married to Samuel. The above is the opinion of the author of this story, Ken Brown.
