Samuel was born in Roxbury, Suffolk county, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He 1st married Maria Kenrick. Maria was born in 1675 and she died 25 April 1704 in Roxbury. They had one child John. He 2nd married Joanna Weld, daughter of John Weld and Hannah Prentice, on 20 Dec 1704(?). They had eight children. The family moved from Roxbury, MA to Middleborough, Plymouth County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. On 23 January 1732, he united with the Church there and stayed until his death .
