About Samuel Mansfield

The son of Moses & Margaret (Prout) Mansfield, he married (1) his cousin, Susanna Mansfield, widow of Lt. John Stone, on December 23, 1736, and (2) he married Esther Hall on October 4, 1742 in New Haven.

He was a Yale graduate (1735) and Sheriff of the colony. Yale President Stiles called him "a very respectable character."
