Samuel Marion Rice was born on 31 December 1843 at Kentucky. He was the son of Isaac Rice and Celia Conley. Samuel Marion Rice appeared on the census of 1880 at Johnson County, Kentucky, listed as Samuel M. age 36, farmer, head of house. He died on 4 January 1899 at Johnson County, Kentucky, at age 55.
