Note about parents and relatives

If the tales are correct, "three brothers" surnamed Martin came from Scotland to Ireland in the mid-late-1600s. We don't know their names, but maybe we can figure that out if we chase back enough Martin descendants in the United States.

We know that one branch of the Martins landed in County Tyrone, and that branch was likely headed by a Martin named William. We know of a Samuel Martin who was the father of Col. John Martin of Caroline County, VA. Only one Martin brother remains missing.

Of course, if the "three brothers" tale is a confabulation, that will show up in Y-DNA tests, eventually. At that point, feel free to disconnect Samuel as appropriate.
