Samuel McKee & His Family", by David R. Hoffman; published 2006

"In the name of God amen. I, Samuel McKee of the County of Fayette & State of Kentucky being sound in body & but far advanced in life but calling to mind the mortality of my body & that it is appointed for all men once to die, I hereby commend my mortal spirit into the hands of God that gave it to me & to my Redeemer whom I trust has redeemed it for me. As To my mortal body I commend it to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in a decent & Christian manner at the discretion of my surviving children & relations with a firm assumption of its resurrection at the last day. As to my worldy estate that God has blessed me with in this life I desire to dispose of it in the following manner: First of all I desire that all my just & lawful debts be paid. As to my plantation wherein I now live it is my wish that after my death it shall be sold & the proceeds thereof be distributed as follows: Item to my daughter Polly five hundred dollars & two beds, with their apparatus. Item to my son John three hundred dollars with one bed & its apparatus. Item to my son, James, I bequeath one hundred dollars. Item I bequeath to my grandaughter Martha Story two hundred dollars & a bed apparatus & bureaus. And than the balance of the price of my land to equally divided between my surviving children & any of the widow of any that may be deceased. Item I, I give & bequeath to my grandaughter Clarey McKee daughter of my son William deceased a small parcel of land lying in Harrison County adjoining my son Williams tract to her & her heirs forever. And it is my wish that whatever stock furniture shop tools or farming utensils shall also be sold & divided among my children as above. I do revoke & disavow any will or wills either verbal or written heretofore made by me & I do hereby appoint & ordain my trusty friend Elijah Poage & my beloved son Archibald McKee as my lawful executors to see this my will executed, as witness my hand & seal this second day of September 1813. another gives as

Samuel McKee, who was in Augusta County, VA, near the Stone Church, in the 1770's-80's, moved to Fayette County, KY in the 1790s and died there in 1813. I don't know who his parents were or where he was born, but wonder if he was a son of William McKee and Elizabeth Todd.

Samuel married Martha (don't know her last name) and she was listed in deeds by which he bought and sold land.
