Samuel Davies Musgrave, Sr.

Samuel Davies Musgrave, Sr. was the son of John Musgrave. He was born in 1747 in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania and died Sep. 2, 1834 in Anderson Township, Warrick Co., Indiana.

Samuel married Elizaebth Brand on Sept, 10, 1767 in Lancaster County, PA. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Brand & Elizabeth Gibson. Samuel & Elizabeth had 11 children together. Samuel & Elizabeth lived in Monongalia County for 28 years. They then moved to Muhlenburg County, KY. After the war Samuel & his wife moved to Warrick County, IN. He is buried next to Elizabeth. Samuel has a Revolutionary War tombstone to mark his grave.

Samuel and Elizabeth were living in Cannonchick Settlement in Cumberland County, PA. when Samuel joined in the Militia in July, 1776, during the Revolutionary War. He served three months as a private in Capt Patrick Jack's Company. He enlisted again in July 1777 and served 3 months as a private in Capt George Crawford's Co., Col Irwin's Pennsylvania. Regiment and was at the Battle of Brandywine. Then in 1782 Samuel Musgrave served two months as an Indian spy under Lieut. Robert Rirchie in the Pennsylvania. Troops.
