S. Allen Nathanson, president of both Viking Steel Co. and the M. Cohen and Sons Co., died on July 23. He was 71 years old and lived in Shaker Heights.
A graduate of Ohio State University and its School of Law, Mr. Nathanson came here from Toledo in 1934. He. founded the steel company in 1945. His association "with the M Cohen and Sons Co. began in 1934 following his graduation. Mr. Nathanson was instrumental in establishing the TransOhio Financial Corp. in 1972 and served on its board for 10 years. He had served as vice president of the Viking Copper Tube Co. from 1950 to 1965. He was a member of both The Temple and Fairmount Temple. During World War II, Mr. Nathanson, a first lieutenant with the U.S. Navy, was a member ofthe war resources board. His first wife, Jacqueline Simone, died in 1979.
Surviving are his wife, the former Irma Jacobson; a daughter, Patricia Whitlow and a grandchild.
