Samuel Oakman, sometimes called Sammy in the Marshfield records. “Samuel was an active an prominent citizen of Marshfield. His name is frequent on church and town records from 1753 throught the revolutionary period to 1788. His son Melzar Turner was a noted school master. Their farm was on North River, at Union Bridge, formerly Oakman ferry, on part of which a descentant, William L. Cushing (Celia Stoddard, Zoa Oakman) now [1901] resides.”
