Samuel Phinney was born in Barnstable, Barnstable County, (then) Province of Massachusetts Bay on April 1, 1702, the son of Ebenezer and Susanna (Linnell) Phinney,[1] and passed away after 26 Nov 1754 (living 26 Nov 1754 when his father made his will).

He married Hannah Ray after marriage intentions were published on 25 January 1728/29 in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.[2][3]
