About Samuel Pitman
Samuel was an apple orchardist on a small holding at Inglewood, SA, and took additional work to supplement the family income. At some stage, while employed at a local quarry, he was blinded in an explosives accident.
After his death in 1893, Sarah moved to the second of two cottages on the property of their son Walter, at Gilles Plains. She lived there with the youngest daughters Olive and Hilda.
When the younger son, Benjamin Charles purchased adjoining property, Sarah moved to Kensington to live, and Charles then resided in the second cottage. Samuel and Sarah were both buried at Houghton, SA.
