About Samuel Platts
Samuel Platts was born on January 19, 1617. He married Sarah Bates in 1647. They had five children in 13 years. His next wife was Philippa Andrews, widow of George Felt. We find no death or probate records, but his death was between 1682 - 1690 at Rowley Essex MA.

1.SAMUEL. He and his wife Sarah arrived in Rowley about 1653. Appeared in Rowley Mass abt 1654 with his younger cousin Jonathan Platts, possibly a few years earlier. [Holman p 425]
The Rowley Historical Society now owns the house he lived in on Main Street, the Platts-Bradstreet House, where he and his second wife lived. They had purchased it from Joseph Jewett. "One dwelling house and 7 3/4 acres of plowland lying of joining to the above said dwelling house". Ipswich Deeds, a small portion of this land was part of the lot laid out to William Bellingham.

Its oldest portion dating to about 1677, it is a well-preserved example of First Period architecture, modified by repeated addition during the 18th century. The house has belonged to the Rowley Historical Society since the 1920s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.[1]
