His second wife was Hannah Hawley Nichols Wolcott, widow of Josiah Nichols and John Wolcott. Her fourth husband was Henry Wolcott. She was the daughter of Joseph Hawley and Catherine Birdseye Hawley of Stratford,CT.

He was the son of Samuel Porter and Hannah Stanley Porter of Windsor and Hadley.
