GEDCOM Note
John & Margaret Webb <jfdw@webbs.me.uk> 4/13/2021 Hi Debbie - I found the two PRs you have for the baptism of Samuel & Susanna. Also there were three other children of Thomas Reynolds and Mary baptised in St. Mary Whitechapel, Stepney, but no dates given. These children were Mary, George Frederick, and Thomas George.
I found Samuel and Mary's marriage register on FindMyPast, which is attached just in case you haven't got it.
I also noticed on other trees that Samuel's father, Thomas, was married to another Mary Davison....? Is that correct? Didn't have time to check that out. Will look further another time - must dash.
John ---------------------------
From Dad: The Reynolds lived on the 9th Concession in Reach Township near Uxbridge, acquired about 1840. They came from England - Ash, Kent - 10-12 miles south of Canterbury towards the coast. Bawtree is the name of a tree in central England. His family might have come from near there. Mary Davidson, Calgary, knows all the ancestors. She married a druggist. The Solley family, also from Ash, came to Canada with the Reynolds. Note: In the 1841 England census, the Solleys lived on the farm next to the Reynolds. They lived across the road from the Davidsons in Uxbridge. An aunt, Mary Reynolds, married George Solley.
Also from Murray Scott: Samuel Bawtree Reynolds pioneered land in Reach Township outside of Uxbridge, ON. It is said that after getting a barn up they discovered they had the wrong allotment and had been intended to have land on Bayview Ave. near York Mills. The Reynolds were likely the best off financially of the family. They were leading supporters of the Anglican Church in Uxbridge. There is a stained glass window in the church for Samuel's wife Elizabeth Reynolds. Samuel left a major part of this money to the church and the trust is still supporting it. Murray thought that Samuel was upset when his favorite daughter, Elizabeth (Reynolds) Davidson, died 4 months after her daughter, Mary Maud Davidson (Murray's mother) was born. Samuel may have blamed the Davidsons - perhaps it was felt that Elizabeth didn't have enough help. Mary was christened in the Anglican Church but after her mother died her husband Benjamin Davidson took his family out of the Anglican Church to the Presbyterian Church a short block away.
